Very interesting listen...just a small comment regarding something you said....I think !!

Mr Poilievre is not a compelling story teller to most Progressive Conservatives, far from it. I’ll leave it at that.

Mr. Delorey:

I thoroughly enjoyed your initial podcast with Alex Kohut. I was struck by a passing comment from Mr. Kohut that one cause of long lived governments losing their way was the loss of the initial crop of the best and the brightest staffers after 4-5 years. Staff failures seemed to be the cause of the Paul Bernardo transfer issue and the unfortunate last minute amendments to the gun control bill. It struck me that the role of staff might be an interesting issue to explore in a future podcast. What is the role of staff? Who generates new ideas in government - the bureaucracy, the Minister, or staff? What is the relationship between Ministers and staff? Is it better to have staff with long personal ties to the Minister or staff selected by the PMO and assigned to a Minister? How important is it for a Minister and staff to like and trust each other? What are examples of a successful relationship between a Minister and staff and a disastrous relationship?

By the way, thank you for quickly stating publicly that Chinese interference did not cost the CPC the last election. This prevented any credible attempts to disqualify the election results and was important to maintaining voter faith in Canada's electoral process. This was an important service for all Canadians.
