Dear Subscribers,
Today's piece is a bit unusual but highly relevant to the current political discourse in Canada. I've written an article for iPolitics that examines the growing clamor for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to step down as Liberal leader.
As a steadfast Conservative, you might expect me to cheer for Trudeau's exit, but my article takes a different angle. I delve into why Liberals should be cautious about such a drastic leadership change. From the rising clout of Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre to the intangible assets Trudeau brings to his party, I offer a detailed analysis that Liberals might find worth considering.
This article is less about what I want and more about examining the potential pitfalls that the Liberal Party could encounter if they choose to part ways with Trudeau.

Best,
Fred DeLorey
Very interesting piece. Polls definitely look bad for the liberals and should send them a strong signal. However, if the current mandate goes until fall 2025, a lot of stuff could still happen. I think some people may be overestimating the value of mid-terms pills
One hopes you receive coherent comments Mr DeLorey .. whether from ‘conservative’ Partisans or Non Partisans..
Recently, I find your Substack along with that of Paul Wells.. to be among the superior Journalism to be found these days..
this being the new era - where actual Journalism seems passé - lost or smothered under layer upon layer matrix of blatant Partisan Propaganda.
The savage & unwarranted Partisan attacks upon Mr David Johnston were led by Polievre4PM et al of course..
but to pretend Partisan Canadian MainStreamMedia was not totally complicit.. indeed the Megaphone aka ‘the Propaganda Tool deployed
would be an absurdity.. indeed a reckless failure of coherent analysis
If Mr Poilivre is indeed the ‘brightest hope’ among the CPC Party, it’s loyalists & rather incoherent ‘Base’
perhaps they fail to realize he’s also the greatest & most vulnerable THREAT .. Yes..in spite of all those wonderful positive polls
trumpeting across the land, echoing his promises, dogma, speaking points.. only the Eligible Voters of Carleton Federal Riding
can make his ‘personal dream’ come true.. or implode him & his ‘career’ as well as the CPC Party
How odd that he & his vaunted WarRoom seem afraid to venture there.. out of his approx 150 ‘Campaign Rallies’’
Coast to Coast.. he’s nowhere to be seen in ‘his Home Riding’ .. That’s the ‘Downside of Up’ isn’t it ?
per The Upside of Down’ as penned by Canadian Thomas Homer-Dixon ..
